Virtual reality helped machine builder determine the business case of a new robot

Jes Gravesen, owner and CEO of Engskov Maskinfabrik (Engskov Machine Factory) had to take a crucial decision when a large order from a customer landed on his table.

Was it the time to buy a robot to deal with some of the manufacturing processes linked to this order?

“We would like to have more robots in our company but we lack the knowledge and competences internally to find out which way to go. We don’t want to spend 1 million Danish kroner on a robot just to make experiments with it,” Jes Gravesen says.

The solution was to use virtual reality to clarify the need and potential of a new robot. This project was carried out as a MADE Demonstration Project with the expertise from Danish Technological Institute.
