Insutex is awarded 25.000 DKK for the Best Sustainable Startup Idea for their innovative insulation product from textile waste. Now it is time to prove the product's worth.
Thomas Aspen fra Insutex pitcher deres produkt på scenen til MADE Årsdag.“We are really, really proud to have won – now it is time to prove to the consumer that this product works,” says Thomas Aspen CPO at Insutex after winning the Best Sustainable Startup Idea and 25.000 DKK at MADE’s Annual Event.
Insutex’ innovative insulation product based on textile waste is one of many innovative products in the making in the startup program Future Manufacturers: From traceable pallets to optimize e.g. reuse to packaging made from nutshells.
“At Future Manufacturers, we want to give the most promising hardware-startups a push towards the market. Insutex is a good example of how circular solutions can create both growth and green transition. It’s impressive to see how they – together with other entrepreneurs in the programme – are working purposefully to make new sustainable materials ready for the construction industry,” says Morten Mommsen, project manager at the Danish Industry Foundation.

At MADE’s Annual Event participants voted among three finalists for the price: Insutex, Re-claim and Naturpladen. Here Insutex ran off with the price of 25.000, which can be used to continue their journey toward a large-scale production and entering the market.
“This is super-important and perfectly timed as we need to get our product tested to be able to win construction projects,” Aspen explains.
With him on stage were the two other nominees, Naturpladen and re-claim – who by coincidence also work with new sustainable building materials. Before the winner was announced, Frederik Ankjær, cofounder of re-claim, ensured that this was a win no matter the result of the vote:
“We are not competitors even though we stand here on the stage together, but allies. We have gotten to know each other through Future Manufactures and because of that made a community called Future Materials where we share knowledge and also seek funding and participate in exhibitions together,” Ankjær explained on stage backed by founder of Naturpladen, Jon Strunge, and Aspen from Insutex.
“No matter who wins, the money will be used for a good purpose, accelerating sustainable building materials,” Aspen said.
And that is exactly what Insutex will do. They intend to use the money to test their solutions for flame-retardents where they are using chemicals from nature to ensure that our product can be circular.
“There are a great number of essential jobs to be done before you can enter the market. I am happy that we can help them with one of them,” adds Anders Sparre, project manager at Future Manufacturers.
