"I think it's healthy for humanity to be good at manufacturing"

Esben Østergaard is the co-founder and former CTO at Universal Robots, member of MADE Board of Directors 2013–2019 and current member of the MADE Advisory Board.

He has a true passion for manufacturing even though he, in his own words, “was an academic geek that didn’t know a lot about manufacturing” when he joined MADE’s Board of Directors in 2013 when MADE had just been founded.

“I strongly believe that, fundamentally, value creation in society comes from the manufacturing of goods. Manufacturing is key to the prosperity and wealth we experience in our society today,” Esben Østergaard says.

“Value creation happens on the factory floor. Everything else is secondary and builds upon the fact that we have manufacturing. The primary reason why I have a chair to sit on and a hot cup of coffee from a smart coffeemaker is a strong and innovative manufacturing industry. I think it’s really healthy for humanity, the world and Denmark to be good at manufacturing,” he continues.
